District's Executive Team volunteers as chefs for a day
The Health Care District’s Executive Team made a special visit to the Quantum House in West Palm Beach last month to serve as volunteers in the “Chef for a Day Program.” There they provided lunch for families whose children are hospitalized or receiving treatment in Palm Beach County for serious medical conditions.
The Quantum House is a non-profit organization that provides lodging to more than 1,000 family members a year from across the country and around the world.
Participating from the Health Care District were: Darcy J. Davis, Chief Executive Officer; Belma Andric, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer; Thomas W. Cleare, PhD, MBA, Vice President of Strategy; Karen A. Harris, Vice President/Administrator, Edward J. Healey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; Christopher F. Irizarry, MPA, Vice President and Executive Director of Clinic Services; Dawn L. Richards, Chief Financial Officer; Rick Roche, Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer and Hospital Administrator; and Valerie Shahriari, JD, RN, General Counsel.
After setting up the assorted sandwiches, fruit, chicken tenders, salads and dessert, the group took a tour of the recently renovated facility and helped a grateful family from Illinois with three young children move supplies to their room.
The visit on February 16th, 2017 proved to be a rewarding experience for the Officers who enjoyed meeting the parents and their children.
The Executive Team saw first-hand how the caring and supportive staff and amenities at the Quantum House lessens the burden for families who travel to our county so their youngsters can receive critical medical treatment.
