Geoff Washburn, VP Chief Human Resource Officer

Geoffrey (Geoff) Washburn is the Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, a diverse and unique public health care system with nearly 1,300 employees.

A career human resources professional, Washburn has more than 30 years of multi-faceted human resources experience in healthcare, including more than 20 years in senior leadership. He is highly regarded for demonstrating effective leadership, exceeding operational performance and establishing and executing high standards of fair and consistent practices.

During his extensive career, he has developed and honed a comprehensive list of strengths including employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance improvement, cost containment, leadership development, and recruitment and retention.

Washburn most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer for Palomar Health in San Diego County, California. Palomar Health is California’s largest public healthcare district by area, employing more than 5,000 professionals. In this role, Washburn restructured the human resources department to a HR Business Partner model, positioning the team to be a high-touch, responsive, customer-focused service model. He also designed a high-performing talent acquisition program and improved employee engagement by 20 percentage points over a four-year period.

Prior to Palomar, Washburn was Vice President, Human Resources at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Ventura County, California. He also held executive-level human resources roles at several hospital and health care systems in Florida and Michigan.

Washburn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources Management from Spring Arbor University in Michigan and a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) Certification from Eastern Michigan University. He is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management and the American Society of Healthcare Human Resources Administration.
