Health Care District of Palm Beach County Welcomes the Community to its New Delray Beach Health Center

The Health Care District of Palm Beach County officially unveiled its Delray Community Health Center to the community with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event on October 10, 2023 officially marked the Ribbon cutting health center’s relocation this summer to a new larger, modern facility across the street from the previous location in the Florida Department of Health building.

Elected officials, C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics and Health Care District board members and patients joined Health Care District team members for tours of the new center where they learned about the wide range of high-quality, comprehensive services that are available. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the Delray Community Health Center accepts all adult patients with or without insurance and regardless of ability to pay.

In her opening remarks, Darcy J. Davis, the Health Care District’s Chief Executive Officer said, “I like to say that our community health centers serve as the Health Care District’s front door. Our new location is just a short distance from our prior site across the street, but far different in size and scope, offering more services in a larger, modern facility. We hope after tonight’s visit you help spread the word about our new Delray location as we expand access to quality care for patients.”

Services at this location include adult primary medical and dental care, behavioral health, women’s health, a pharmacy, and referrals for labs, diagnostics and specialty care. This location also expands the Health Care District’s outpatient addiction treatment program, providing psychiatric care to adults struggling with mental health issues and substance use disorders. Florida Atlantic University’s Psychiatry Residency Program will also be serving patients at this location as a part of the residents’ training. The Delray Beach site is one of the Health Care District’s 10 community health centers across the county that are located in areas of need.

“Our primary goal is to provide a positive patient experience by delivering the highest standard of care,” said Candice Abbott, the Health Care District’s Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Federally Qualified Health Center Services. “Our health centers are designed to be responsive to our patients' health needs. We firmly believe in treating the whole person by addressing our patients physical and mental well-being.

Care teams at the health centers connect patients to community resources like food, housing, transportation and assist enrolling them in health coverage. Translation is available in more than 100 languages.

This state-of-the-art health center we are celebrating today is yet another testament to the Health Care District's dedication to the well-being of our community,” said Palm Beach County Mayor Gregg Weiss in his remarks. “With its expanded facilities and services, the new Delray Community Health Center will serve even more of our residents and provide them with the essential care they need to stay healthy.”

This modern Delray health center is strategically positioned to be a true medical home, offering compassionate, quality care to our community,” said Melissa Tascone, chair of the C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics Board, who addressed the crowd. “As a one-stop shop for primary medical and dental care, mental health services, and even a pharmacy, our patients can get the care they need when they need it, regardless of ability to pay.”

Also attending the event were Palm Beach County District 4 Commissioner Marci Woodward, Health Care District Board Chair Carlos Vidueira, C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics Board member Bill Johnson, Delray Beach Fire Rescue, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and City of Delray Beach personnel, and professionals from Florida Atlantic University, local hospitals and specialty offices.
