Health Care District to Offer Free, Walk-up Pfizer Boosters to Those as Young as 16 Years Old
Free adult and pediatric doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines for individuals as young as five years of age are available at Health Care District of Palm Beach County mobile clinic sites countywide. Starting tomorrow, boosters of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be available to individuals as young as 16 years old per the new U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Those interested in receiving a booster shot should bring their COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card showing it’s been at least six months since they received their second dose. A provider will add the information about the booster dose to the card. Individuals between 5 and 17 years old must be with a parent or a guardian to be vaccinated.
“We encourage those who are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and get their booster shots before the holidays,” said Belma Andrić, MD, MPH, the Health Care District’s Chief Medical Officer. “It’s easy, safe and convenient to visit one of our mobile clinic sites. Wait times are minimal and you don’t need an appointment.”
The Health Care District continues its partnership with the School District of Palm Beach County to expand access to COVID-19 vaccinations, providing over 2,000 shots at School District sites since November 4th. The pediatric dose for children ages 5 to 11 is one-third the strength of the vaccine formulated for those ages 12 and older. It’s authorized by the FDA and approved by the CDC.
The Health Care District’s mobile vaccination site at 1250 Southwinds Drive in Lantana is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. except for Friday, December 24th and Friday, December 31st. To date, the Health Care District has provided over 224,000 COVID-19 vaccinations countywide. Here is this month’s schedule:
