COVID-19 Testing Site Update: FITTEAM Ballpark Site Surpasses 10,000 Patients Tested; Belle Glade Site Expands

Line at the FITTEAM Ball Park testing siteThis week, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics surpassed 10,000 total patients tested at the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach. The clinics’ medical and support staff reached this milestone on April 23rd after testing patients from their vehicles six days a week since the drive-thru site opened on March 31st.  The site, which can accommodate four lanes of testing, is the county’s largest COVID-19 testing site and is supported by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the State Department of Emergency Management, the Florida Army National Guard and Palm Beach County personnel.

“Our safety net health care system committed to meeting what was a critical need for COVID-19 testing in our community,” said Darcy J. Davis, Health Care District CEO.  “I am extremely proud of our dedicated Health Care District team of healthcare professionals, from our medical providers who are conducting the tests in the field to the support staff scheduling appointments for patients, handling complex logistics and reporting the results.”

First day of the Belle Glade Drive Thru testing siteThis week the Health Care District expanded its Belle Glade test site to include a single drive-thru lane in front of the C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics located at Lakeside Medical Center, the Health Care District’s acute care, teaching hospital.  The Health Care District began testing at the Belle Glade clinic on March 16, 2020. Testing at both the Belle Glade and West Palm Beach sites are by appointment only.  Patients can call the Health Care District’s Testing Hotline 561-642-1000 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to schedule an appointment. Residents do not need to be symptomatic and can be any age to be scheduled for an appointment for COVID-19 testing.

Staff at the Belle Glade testing siteWe want all of our patients to know that they can still see their medical doctors during this pandemic,” said Belma Andrić, MD, MPH, the Health Care District’s Chief Medical Officer and Vice President and Executive Director of Clinic Services. “Patients can call 561-642-1000 and talk to a primary care provider who will determine if they need to see the patient in person or if care can be provided through a telemedicine visit.”

For Glades’ residents without access to transportation, a Palm Tran bus stop is located in front of the Belle Glade test site at 39200 Hooker Highway. Individuals who use public bus transportation or do not have a personal vehicle and wish to be tested must also schedule an appointment.  As soon as test results are available, they are communicated to the patient by a Health Care District provider.
