Tanya Greer at Palm Health Foundation Nurses of the Year eventTanya Greer, RN, BSN, NCSN, Assistant Director, School Health was honored as one of  Palm Health Foundation’s “2019 Nurses of the Year” at the sixth annual Heart of Gold Nursing Reception on May 9th at the Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach. Several Health Care District school nurses attended the celebration to honor the work of local nurses in Palm Beach County.

“I was very surprised and honored to be chosen as one of the Nurses of the Year,” said Greer. It is a bittersweet moment as Greer plans to retire in August after 20 years with the Health Care District and 51 years as a registered nurse. “It has been such a rewarding, eventful, and educational experience with a lot of opportunities,” said Greer with emotion. “It’s hard to leave a career I love after all these years.”

The Health Care District staffs over 200 registered nurses in nearly 170 public schools throughout the county who keep students healthy and ready to learn.  Watch how school nurse Donna Williams is making a difference in her school:
