To start the new year with social impact, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s Executive Team volunteered as “Chefs for a Day” at the Quantum House in West Palm Beach on January 8th, 2019 where they served lunch to families staying at the home while their children receive medical care in the area.
The Quantum House is a non-profit organization that provides lodging to over 1,200 family members annually from around the world whose children are receiving treatment in Palm Beach County for a serious medical condition.
The visit kicked off with an extensive tour of the modern facility, which features 30 guest suites, playrooms, laundry rooms, a business center, wellness center, butterfly garden and a playground. The organization provides 500 family activities and events, 13 pet therapy teams and 365 meals every year to families at the home.
After the tour, the team set up lunch to include assorted sandwiches, salads, fruit and cookies for the more than two dozen adults and children, some of whom were wearing prosthetics and specialized walkers. The families were thankful for the meal and enjoyed interacting with the District’s leadership. The Executive Team witnessed firsthand the supportive staff and amenities at the Quantum House, which lessens the financial and emotional burden for families whose children are going through difficult medical treatments.
