Health Care District Participates as Panelists in this Year's Future of Medicine Summit

The Health Care District of Palm Beach County's Chief Executive Officer, Darcy J. Davis, was featured as a panelist in a session called "The Art, Science, and Business of Medicine" on October 13th in West Palm Beach. The panel discussion took place during this year's Future of Medicine Summit XI hosted by Palm Beach County Medical Society Services and focused on the challenges and opportunities of healthcare delivery. In her introductory remarks, Ms. Davis stated, "Our role (as the Health Care District) is to provide the highest quality of care as efficiently as possible and provide as much access to those who typically can't obtain access." Also serving on the panel were the Chief Executive Officers of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, JFK Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic Florida, Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches, as well as the Chief Operating Officer of Baptist Health South Florida.

The day before, the District's Chief Medical Officer, Belma Andrić, MD, MPH and Marc Schlosser, MD, provider with the Health Care District's C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics participated along with Alina M. Alonso, MD, Health Care District Board Member and Director of the Florida Department of Health for Palm Beach County, in a panel discussion about local initiatives that are addressing the county's opioid crisis. During the panel discussion, Dr. Andric addressed the need for greater access to evidence-based Medication Assisted Treatment programs similar to a program Dr. Schlosser and the Brumback Clinics have helped to pilot in partnership with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and JFK Medical Center.

During the event, Palm Beach County Medical Society Services presented a plaque of recognition to David A. Summers, RN, CFRN, EMT-P, Trauma Nurse Outreach Coordinator with the District's Trauma Agency. David received the "Disaster Services Extraordinary Service Award 2017 HERC and MRC Member of the Year."
