Brumback Clinics receive grants for IT enhancements, quality improvement and dental services

The C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers owned and operated by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, are in the process of implementing a wireless network and adding telemedicine services thanks to a $93,476 grant awarded in September by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Congratulations to the Brumback Clinics and the Health Care District’s IT Department for their partnership in applying for this grant and work executing the various initiatives that will increase patient access to adult and pediatric primary care services.

The IT enhancements will help modernize the infrastructure of the clinics and delivery system. Currently within each of the clinic sites, providers must log in and log out of a wired computer workstation each time they encounter a patient in an exam room. The wireless network will enable our providers to use mobile iPad devices that will allow them to be more efficient and help increase the number of patients they treat each day.

The telemedicine program will enable our clinics to provide increased access to health care throughout the rural, western areas of the county and will facilitate continuity of care for patients who need specialty services like cardiology, neurology and mental health. The goal is to provide improved patient outcomes more efficiently by having the ability to facilitate services where they currently don’t exist.

The Brumback Clinics are also proud to have received a $132,680 HRSA grant in August that will help the clinics expand current quality improvement efforts, especially in the areas of Behavioral Health and Women’s Health.

In addition, the Brumback Clinics received a $35,000 Patient-Centered Medical Home grant from HRSA in August for preventative dental care and oral hygiene for children. The grant will assist in the development of a “Warm Hand-off” process to increase the number of same-date appointments in the dental clinics after a child is seen by his or her provider in the pediatric clinic.
