Health Care District Commissioner Carol Roberts interviewed on France24
With the U.S. Presidential election drawing near, France24, an international television news channel based in Paris, reached out to Carol Roberts who has served for the past eight years as a member of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners.
France24 Reporter Surabhi Tandon, who is based in Miami, wanted to interview Commissioner Roberts about her experience as a member of the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board during the controversial 2000 U.S. Presidential election vote recount.
At that time Ms. Roberts served on the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners and video of her manual recount of paper ballots was seen around the world. Commissioner Roberts sat down and told Surabhi that she was the one who requested the hand recount that thrust her into the international spotlight and changed her life.
Commissioner Roberts said even the death threats that she received did not stop her from achieving her goal of protecting the democratic process. In her words, “Every vote has a voice.”
Now Commissioner Roberts’ voice is being heard in three languages, English, French and Arabic, as France24 broadcasts its “Reporters” documentary in America, South Asia, Africa and throughout Europe.
