Health Care District COVID-19 Updates

The Health Care District of Palm Beach County has been monitoring the latest information and guidelines on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in coordination with the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  The Health Care District and its health facilities have taken a proactive approach to ensure that required preparations and protocols are in place to provide timely, safe and quality care for our patients.

Due to the ongoing medical crisis, the Health Care District is activating the following emergency plans at our facilities:

C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics: We are encouraging all patients to call 561-642-1000 to for any information regarding the clinics or COVID-19 testing between 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.

     COVID-19 Testing: The Health Care District has several walk-up and a drive-thru testing sites. Individuals can be any age, and need not be symptomatic to be registered and tested, but they must call the Health Care District’s Testing Hotline, 561-642-1000, to be scheduled in advance for testing. Patients who do not have a personal vehicle or use public bus transportation must also have an appointment.

Hotline representatives will conduct the phone screenings in English, Spanish and Creole. Those who come for testing without an appointment will be turned away. The Health Care District will continue to make appointments for the drive-thru testing as long as test kits, PPE and staffing are available.

Lakeside Medical Center:

Update 11/3/2020: In-patient visits begin today during at these designated times:  

6:00 am – 8:00 am
5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

ONE visitor is allowed per patient visit. All visitors will be screened and must wear facial covering to cover their nose and mouth. If the visitor does not have a facial covering, a procedural mask will be provided upon entry. Any visitation with Covid-related patients will be considered on a case-by-case basis with proper attire to be given. In addition, visitors to any OB-GYN patients will be considered on a case-by-case basis.



Edward J. Healey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center: 
Update 11/3/2020: Edward J. Healey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is re-opening visitors. We have put policies and procedures in place to meet requirements of infection prevention protocols recommended by the CDC (Center of Disease Control and Prevention).

Visitations need to be scheduled ahead of time with our Liaison Jeanneane Garland at 561-475-0105, Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Appointments will be offered at 45 minutes increments:

•    Monday-Friday from 8:30 am – 6:15 pm with last appointment at 5:30 pm; and
•    Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 8:30 am – 4:15 pm with last appointment at 3:30 pm

Visits will be limited to two visits per resident per week to allow the opportunity for all residents to have visitors. Each visit can have two (2) guests at a time, but exceptions can be made for up to a maximum of three (3) visitors.

Our Liaison will screen all guests with COVID-19 questions over the phone as well as prior to live visit with their loved one to promote the safety of all involved. Once guests arrive for their appointment they will be provided with mandatory PPE to be worn. In addition, guest must sign consent noting their understanding of visitations and infection control and prevention policies.

Visits will be held in a designated area that will allow for auditory privacy but also for the ability for staff to monitor guests are following infection control procedures discussed prior to visit and maintaining social distancing during their visit.
