Telemetry can measure heart rate, blood pressure, muscle function, body temperature and more. Technology in the unit helps medical staff identify potential problems. The equipment tracks vital signs. Changes in the vital signs let staff know when a problem is developing. Catching signs early allows the medical team to react quickly. That is why telemetry is sometimes used when a patient comes out of surgery. It allows a doctor or nurse to closely monitor a patient at any time.
