Patty Lavely, VP & Chief Information & Digital Officer
Patricia “Patty” Lavely is the Vice President, Chief Information and Digital Officer for the Health Care District of Palm Beach County. She recently served as interim CIO for the District where she developed and finalized the terms for the Epic Community Connect relationship and contract, assessed the cyber security program, assisted with the recruitment of the IT leadership team and provided overall leadership and stability for the IT team.
Lavely has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare information technology industry. She uses real-world experience and business acumen to transform IT systems with conclusive results. Her mature assessment and prioritization skills stabilize IT operations and motivate technological enhancements to advance innovation, operational efficiency and realize affirmative outcomes.
Previously, she has worked with Gwinnett Health System as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer from 2013 to 2019. Her main accomplishments included stabilizing the systems environment, developing a cyber security and privacy program and governance, restructuring IT governance, establishing the southeast’s only health IT physician resident rotation and leading IT through a merger of the organization.
Prior to Gwinnett, Lavely served as the interim CIO for Carepoint Health from 2011 to 2013, an emerging health system in New Jersey. She standardized the organization on Meditech and implemented financial and clinical software in their acquired hospitals.
Her industry association includes memberships in HIMSS, ACHE, CHIME and the Georgia CIO Leadership Association. Lavely has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Shorter College and a Master of Business Administration from Florida State University. She is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a CHIME Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer. She recently completed terms on the Board for the Georgia Chapter of HIMSS, the Board for the Technology Association of Georgia Health and the GeorgiaCIO Advisory Board. She currently co-chairs the CHIME Opioid Task Force and is the vice-chair of the PAWS Atlanta Board.
