Candice Abbott, SVP & Chief Operating Officer
Candice Abbott is the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, a diverse public healthcare system. She is responsible for operations across the Health Care District and supervises Lakeside Medical Center, Aeromedical, Healey skilled nursing facility and the Community Health Centers. Candice also serves as the Executive Director of Federally Qualified Health Center Services and is responsible for the operation of 10 community health centers and three mobile clinics that serve all patients, with or without insurance and regardless of ability to pay.
Abbott was previously the Health Care District’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, where she was responsible for the development and implementation of the financial strategies, operating and capital budgets, and system financial reporting and controls that support the overall mission, goals and objectives of the Health Care District. She led the implementation of Oracle, moving the Health Care District to an efficient, cloud-based system for budgeting, purchasing and vendor management.
Abbott has more than 25 years of healthcare finance and operations experience partnering with hospital, physician and community leaders. She has proven success increasing a multi-hospital health system’s net operating margin, expertise in aligning innovative care delivery models and financial operations, revenue recognition and finding cost-savings while executing the organization’s strategic initiatives. Abbott’s prior leadership experience includes serving as the Regional Executive Director for Cleveland Clinic Florida Integrated Health Network and Assistant Vice President of Finance for Martin Health System.
Abbott has a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management. She is certified in several Epic revenue cycle applications and is a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Abbott is the treasurer for Helping People Succeed, a member of Florida Atlantic University’s Finance and Legislative committee, and a former board member and Director of Education for the Florida Chapter of Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
