As the needs of our residents have changed over the years, so have the health care services provided by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County. We offer a wide range of programs and services to the community, ranging from trauma care, health coverage for the uninsured, children’s health programs that keep students healthy in our public schools and skilled nursing care. In October 2009, Lakeside Medical Center, Palm Beach County's only public hospital, opened ahead of schedule and below budget. The hospital serves the western Palm Beach County communities bordering Lake Okeechobee.
