In 1988, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County was established by the Palm Beach County Health Care Act to provide quality, accessible and affordable health care services for Palm Beach County’s medically needy. The Health Care District line of business is called the District Cares Program. The District launched the program in 1993, and since that time, more than 30,000 residents annually receive safety-net services.
The District Cares program joins eligible residents with services and providers to maintain health or manage a health issue. Benefits may include access to comprehensive health care services that consist of routine preventive care and specialty physician services, inpatient hospital care, outpatient surgery, prescription drugs, diagnostic services and more.
Members have access to participating specialists through a referral from their primary care provider.
The Provider Services Department is designed to assist provider offices with the operating policies, procedures and agreement standards for the plan. Our representatives can also serve as a gatekeeper for any questions about District Care's health coverage, claims, billing, and other provider questions.
A representative is available to each provider's office to assist and ensure compliance with policies and procedures and to coordinate communication between the medical office and the plan.
Providers may contact their representative by submitting a request form to request a visit, to notify us of address changes or for any other questions.
