West Palm Beach, FL – At its annual meeting on May 22, 2018 the Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s Board of Commissioners elected its new Board Chair and officers.  In a unanimous vote, the Board elected its Vice Chair, Brian R. The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners appointed Mr. Lohmann to the Health Care District Board in September 2011 to represent the rural, western part of Palm Beach County known as “the Glades.” Mr. Lohmann, who was reappointed for a second four-year term in 2016, also serves as Chair of the District’s Finance Committee.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of the Health Care District Board,” said Mr. Lohmann. “Expanding access to quality health care in this county is a priority, especially for the underserved.  I am proud of the Health Care District’s thirty-year legacy of providing diverse, safety-net programs that keep our community healthy.”

A native Floridian, Mr. Lohmann lives in Belle Glade where he is Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and General Manager of the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida, which he joined in 2008. Prior to that, he spent three years with Pioneer Growers Cooperative and previously was the owner of B.R. Lohmann, Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Florida.

Mr. Lohmann succeeds Philip H. Ward, III as Board Chair.  Mr. Ward is president and managing partner of Ward Damon, a multi-disciplined law firm, which he co-founded in 1987.  Governor Rick Scott appointed both Mr. Ward and Nancy C. Banner, Esq. to the Health Care District Board in 2011 and reappointed them in 2016. Ms. Banner has been a real estate attorney with Nancy C. Banner, PA since 2004. Sean O’Bannon, a retired veteran fire administrator with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, was appointed by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners in 2016. Also serving on the seven-member Board are Alina M. Alonso, MD, Director of the Florida Department of Health for Palm Beach County, Leslie B. Daniels, and Cory Neering, West Palm Beach City Commissioner.

The Lakeside Health Advisory Board, which guides Lakeside Medical Center, the Health Care District’s acute care teaching hospital in the Glades, also elected new officers.  At its May 1, 2018 meeting, Rev.
