Palm Springs, FL – The Health Care District of Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners honored Commissioner Angeleta Gray at its public Board meeting Wednesday, September 13th where they presented her with a framed memento of appreciation and approved a proclamation recognizing her four years of service as she completes her volunteer term on the Board.

"It is my pleasure to thank you for your years of service on the Health Care District Board," said Philip H. Ward, III, Health Care District Board Chair.  "We appreciate all you have done for our Federally Qualified Health Centers, the C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics, as the Board's appointee on the Clinics' Board of Directors."

Commissioner Gray was first appointed to serve on the Health Care District Board in 2013 by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners when she served as Vice Mayor on the City of Delray Beach Commission.  During her tenure on the Clinics' Board, the number of primary care clinic sites serving adult and pediatric patients expanded from four initial sites in West Palm Beach, Lantana, Delray Beach and Belle Glade to ten sites countywide that include Jupiter, Lake Worth, and southwest Boca Raton.

"Thank you for this recognition," said Commissioner Gray. "My service on both the Health Care District Board and the Board for the C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics has been professionally rewarding. I'm very proud of the Brumback Clinics' staff and their work caring for adults and children throughout the county."

Commissioner Gray's term was also highlighted by the primary care clinics implementing an Electronic Medical Record system, opening four dental clinics, opening a fifth pharmacy, establishing women's health and behavioral health services, expanding hours, and providing medical outreach to homeless and migrant populations

"The Health Care District is grateful to Commissioner Gray for her years of volunteer service," said Darcy J. Davis, the Health Care District's Chief Executive Officer. "We thank her for her commitment to providing our community access to high-quality health care."

During Commissioner Gray's tenure, the Primary Care Clinics earned an exceptional "perfect" score from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) during HRSA's 2017 operational site visit.  That same year, the Clinics were recognized as a national leader in colorectal cancer prevention by the American Cancer Society's National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (NCCRT) for achieving a colorectal cancer screening rate that is twice the national average for community clinics

At the meeting, L. Neil Fogel was also recognized by the Health Care District Board for completing his second four-year term on the Health Care District's Finance Committee.  Mr. Fogel received a framed memento in appreciation of his dedication and service spanning 13 years of leadership with the Health Care District.  During his tenure, Mr. Fogel served on the former Glades General Hospital Board, the former Construction Oversight Committee for Lakeside medical Center and the former Glades Rural Area Support Board.

"It has not only been an experience of learning, but it has been an experience of being able to contribute and then seeing something happen that is really very unique to this community," Mr. Fogel said.  "You should all be really proud of what you do because it is exceptional."
