Edward J. Healey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center earns Five-Star rating from U.S. News & World Report

Riviera Beach, FL – The Edward J. Healey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Riviera Beach, which is owned and operated by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, is on U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Nursing Homes 2016-17 for earning an overall Five-Star Rating, the highest rating it awards to nursing homes. U.S. News analyzed data on health inspections, nurse staffing, and measures of medical quality of care from the federal government to produce the ratings. The Healey Center also garnered a Five-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Nursing Home Compare website, a rating the Healey Center also received in 2014.
The online tool www.Medicare.gov/NHCompare, which was last updated on November 28, 2016, allows consumers to compare information for the more than 15,000 Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing homes around the nation on overall quality, health inspections, staffing and quality measures. Of the 55 skilled nursing facilities in the county, the Healey Center was one of 17 to earn a Five-Star Quality Rating.

The 120-bed Edward J. Healey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is an important component of Palm Beach County’s health care safety net, providing long-term and short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing care for eligible county residents, many of whom are recovering from traumatic injuries, strokes or debilitating illnesses. U.S. News & World Report noted the Healey Center scored better than average in its nurse staffing ratings for Registered Nurses, as well as all types of nurses, in total nursing time per resident per day.

U.S. News states that it evaluated nearly 16,000 facilities across the country and only about one out of eight facilities achieved “Best” status by earning an overall U.S. News rating of at least 4.5.
